The government has appointed Md Shameem Ahsan as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nigeria, reports UNB. Currently he is serving as Consul General of Bangladesh in New York. In his diplomatic career, he served in Bangladesh Missions at Washington DC, Rome, Nairobi, Doha and Kuwait in different capacities.
He also represented Bangladesh in numerous international conferences.
Shameem Ahsan was closely associated with the publication of “Liberation War: Friends of Bangladesh” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the Foreign Ministry here on Wednesday.
He has written two books on diplomacy and international relations.
He is married to Guley Ferdousi Forhad and they have a daughter Nahla Ahsan.
A career diplomat of 11th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service, Shameem Ahsan joined the Foreign Service in April 1993.
