Stock markets closed yesterday with downward trends mainly due to price fall in large-cap securities despite higher transactions, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 76.85 points down at 5,572.06.
The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 11.08 points down at 1,322.75 and with 17.36 points down at 2,084.99.
The daily trade rose to 10.95 crore shares from Tuesday's 9.25 crore shares and the day's trade value at DSE increased to Tk 352.08 crore from Tk 241.71 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day's 337 securities, prices of 50 securities closed higher against 268 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Central Insurance, Eastern Insurance, Style Craft, Queen South and ICBAMCL2ND. The major losing companies were CAPMBDBLMF, CAPMIBBLMF, SEMLIBBLSF, Bank Asia and UCB.
Square Pharma topped the turnover list followed by GP, Doreen Power, Ifad Autos and Brac Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trends with its major CASPI 212.02 points down at 17,237.15.
At CSE, 227 issues were traded. Of those, 30 closed higher and 180 closed
lower when 56.96 lakh shares worth Tk 28.09 crore changed hands.
