Mahmudul Hasan Hemal
We being a single heart within bodies two
Smells us from sky so far the cloud through;
If ever we blink that takes us far
If we don’t love for short to shorter,
You a violin without melancholy in heart
I a smile without happiness apart.
How are stars without their twinkle,
The antique bells giving no jingle?
The way morning grass without dew,
I am those trifles without you.
Wondered I, wondered we both to God
He made two bodies, made two hearts naught.
