Moowshon Sawkhyar: An inspiring tale of a young entrepreneur

He is only 26 years old but at this age he has already established himself as a successful young entrepreneur. He hailed from an impoverished family background but through his hard work and determination, Moowshon Sawkhyar has curved a distinct niche for himself. He started his professional journey as a manager of a tiny shop of Nababpur in Old Dhaka in 2009 with a salary of Tk 4000 only! Today he owns a ball pen manufacturing company in Dhaka and roughly pays 2 lakh Tk to his employees every month! So how did he change his fortune? He reveals his inspiring tale for YI readers.
Days of Struggle
After completion of my HSC Examination, I was looking for a job to support my family. But in our country, it is not always easy to get a job. I got a job at a machineries shop at Nababpur with a meager monthly income. That was a very frustrating job because I had to travel a long distance from my home in Nondipara every morning to attend my workplace. And the stress I had to take was immense. I had to look after junior staffs work, coordinate, supervise and manage everything of the shop. With such a low paid job, I was getting frustrated. However, I took that as a learning curve for me and started learning the process of ball pen manufacturing. I built a good rapport with the nearby machine operators, product suppliers, importers and distributors.
Beginning of the Success Story
S.B Group (Owning Company of Merit Ball Pen) offered me a job in 2010 to work as their Marketing Information Officer (MIO). I grabbed the offer with both hands. I was promoted twice in two years. First I was promoted as the Programme Coordinator and then as the Purchase Officer. During my official job with S.B Group, I was paid a handsome salary and I used to save the major portion of that money for my future business purposes.
Journey as an Entrepreneur
With my initial capital of 2 Lakh Tk that I saved from my salaried money, I wanted to start my own Ball Pen Manufacturing unit. I am grateful to my father for allowing me to build my production unit on his hard earned land at Jurain. He wanted to develop a house there but hearing my intention, he sacrificed for the better. That sacrifice now seems to be paying and how! I am also grateful to the production suppliers and importers of Nababpur. Initially they helped me to take the manufacturing products on credit. I went from door to door for building clientele. Thats how the journey of my Uni-Max Ball Pen began.
Present growth of the Company
With everybodys blessings, now my company can manufacture a minimum of 35 lakh Tk ball pens every month. We do institutional and general sales both. I have bought some new machines and 17 staffs now work for my company. Opsonin Pharma, Popular Pharma, Orion Pharma, Brac and many other NGOs and pharmaceuticals purchase bulk pen from my company. I will import machine and other equipment from India and Korea soon. Then the production every month will cross a crore taka for sure.
Future Plan
I have already travelled India and Singapore to develop my business idea. I have a plan to travel more countries soon to enrich my outer knowledge and overall skills. I would like to create more employment opportunity for the country.
