As arable land is shrinking in a faster rate, the government is going to formulate a land law to ensure its optimum utilization in a planned manner, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif said yesterday, reports BSS.
“Formulation process of the law titled “Agricultural Land Protection and Land Use Act-2015” is underway and it will be finalised taking opinions and suggestions of all stakeholders,” he told a meeting of land use implementation committee in the conference room of the land Ministry here.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Railways Minister Md Mujibul Haque, State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and secretaries of the different ministries, among others, attended the meeting.
“We arranged meetings and workshops with all stakeholders to prepare a draft of the law and it will be finalized through maintaining due process. The law going to be enacted for protecting people’s interest,” Sharif said.
Supplementing Sharif, Saifuzzaman said the law will be enacted for protecting agriculture and industrial land as it is being used in unplanned manner across the country. “A good progress of preparing of draft of the law already has been made and hopefully we will be able to formulate the law soon,” he added.
