Six people, including four women, were killed and over 100 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Talmar Jamtola Bazar on Dhaka-Barisal Highway in Sadar upazila yesterday afternoon, reports UNB from
Faridpur.
Among the deceased, four were identified as Habib Sheikh, hailed from Moharazapur in Maksudpur upazila of Gopalganj district, Karun Dutt,45, of Faridpur sadar upazila, Shima,35 of
Saltha upazila and Bilkis Begum,32 of Bhanga upazila while identities of others could not be known immediately.
Assistant Superintendent of Faridpur Highway Police Belal Hossain said the Faridpur bound-bus collided with the Bhanga bound-local bus coming from Tekerhat in the area at around 3.30pm, leaving over 100 passengers of the two vehicles injured.
On information, police and fire fighters rushed to the spot.
Sixty injured passengers were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where six of them succumbed their injuries, said Dr Gonpoti Biswas Shuvo, supervisor of Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
