Highlighting the importance on taking coordinated efforts to face the challenges the country will confront after its graduation from LDC group business leaders said private sector’s involvement in the government’s policymaking level is needed to turn the challenges into opportunities for the country, reports BSS.
The country needs more private investment, diversification of export, time-befitting industrial policy and reducing corporate tax, they said while speaking at a discussion on ‘Bangladesh: Graduation from LDC to Developing Nation’ in the capital yesterday.
Principal coordination of SDG affairs of the Prime Minister’s Office Abul Kalam Azad attended the discussion as chief guest while commerce secretary Shubhashish Bose, FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam, former Bangladesh ambassador and permanent representative to the UN Md Abdul Hannan, business leader Aftabul Islam and directors and member of other trade bodies took part in the discussion.
FBCCI’s senior vice president Sheikh Fazle Fahim moderated the discussion. Deputy Secretary of Economic Relations Division (ERD) Anwar Hossain made a presentation at the program on ‘Graduation of Bangladesh to Developing Nation’ and the celebrations planned in this regard.
