As Shakib Al Hasan’s sudden inclusion in the team got a mixed reaction from the country’s fraternity, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) claimed the ace all-rounder got the green signal from his Australian physician to play the International cricket.

“Our medical team has been in constant touch with the Australia physician Dr. Greg Hoy who gave Shakib treatment. There is an advice from him that he is now comfortable to play,” the BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujon claimed.

Shakib joined the team in Colombo yesterday immediate after he got the SOS from the team management.

“We are hoping that Shakib can play. He was in Colombo with the team before going to Australia and that was the part of our planning. He is the captain of the T20 team and that’s why he was with the team to motivate them. But he also needed to consult with a doctor to take further treatment and that’s why we sent him to Australia. We hope that he would play the next game,” Chowdhury revealed, saying that it was the board which actually took the move to include Shakib into the team.

“The team felt his absence and the board made the request. But we sent him in Colombo to play the game, considering all the facets. Now it’s up to the team management.”

Shakib suffered a little finger injury during the match against Sri Lanka in the tri-nation ODI tournament in Bangladesh on January 27. The extent of the injury was so grave that he missed the tournament’s final and the subsequent Test and T20 series. Thereafter he also missed the Nidahas tournament and went to Australia for advance treatment.

He was in the rehab and was bowling and batting in the net before the board called him in urgent basis. From what it was seen that he was in good nick while bowling or batting as there was no sign of pain.
