KHULNA: Traffic movement on Khulna-Jessore highway remained halted for an hour on Thursday as the workers of Khulna-based private jute mills blocked the road in Shiromoni area demanding immediate payment of the dues and reopening the closed jute mills, reports UNB.
The workers took position on Khulna-Jessore highway around 9am, halting vehicular movement for an hour, said AbulKalam Azad, president of the Jute Mill Workers Committee.
Their demands include immediate payment of the outstanding salaries of the workers, reopening the closed jute mills and stopping retrenchment of the workers.
The workers have been staging movement for a month to press home their demands, including payment of their dues.
