Man to die for killing two

A court here yesterday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his brother-in-law in 2010. The court also sentenced him to life imprisonment for killing his brother-in-law’s neighbour on the same day and fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more RI.
The convict was identified as Badrul Islam of Rowha Kalirhat village under Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district.
Judge of Gazipur district and session judge’s court AKM Anamul Haque handed down the verdict yesterday.
According to the case, Ismail Hossain, husband of Badrul’s sister, lived with his wife and family members in Bowbazar area of Tongi in Gazipur. On June 15 in 2010, Badrul came to visit there and wanted some money from Ismail as loan, but Ismail refused him. They locked in an altercation over the issue. At one stage, Badrul stabbed Ismail with a knife at his chest, leaving him dead on the spot. Getting the scream of Ismail, his neighbour Belal came to the spot and Badrul also stabbed him death.
Deceased Belal’s brother Fazlul Haque filed a case with Tongi police station in this connection. After the day, police arrested Badrul from his village. Later, sub inspector of Tongi police station and the investigation officer of the case Raziur Rahman submitted the charge-sheet against Badrul before the court. After a long hearing, the court sentenced Badrul to death for Ismail murder and life imprisonment for Belal murder.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000 at the same time.
