Man jailed for killing wife

A court here yesterday convicted and sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife of Fatulla police station in the district.
The court also fined him Taka 10,000, in default, one month’s more imprisonment, court sources said.
KM Rasheduzzaman Raza, judge of the Women and Child Repression Prevention Special Tribunal handed down the verdict against him in absentia. The convict is Mohshin Mia, 38, son of Abdur Rab Gazi, resident in Patuakhali district and now lived in Kotoaler bag area of Fatulla.
According to the prosecution story, the convict killed his wife, Lipi Akter, on March 31, 2004 for dowry.
