Burn injured child dies at DMCH

A minor girl who sustained burn injuries in a fire at a house in the capital’s Kalyanpur area died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital here on Thursday, reports UNB. The deceased is 11-month-old Afrida Akhter Fatema, daughter of M Abdul Malek. Four members M Abdul Malek, 35, his wife Rina Begum, 30, their daughter Afrida Akhter Fatema and Rina’s sister Arju Begum, 28, suffered burn injuries in the fire incident on Wednesday night. Later, the injured were admitted to the Burn Unit of DMCH where Afrida, who sustained 47 percent burn injuries, succumbed to her injuries around 1:30pm, said Dr Shirin Yeasmin of the burn unit.
