Man to die for murder

A Barisal court yesterday sentenced a man to death in a case filed over killing a villager in 2014.
Syed Enayet Hosen, district and session judge of Barisal, after examining 11 witnesses and other evidences announced the verdict in presence of the accused.
The court also sentenced two other accused to life term rigorous imprisonment and acquitted seven others from the charge.
The death convicted was Nannu Mrridha, of Nandankathi village of Gourbnadi upazila of the district and life term convicts were Sentu Mrridha and Alam Mrridha of the same area.
According to the case story, the accused attacked Khadem Sardar (60), a villager of Nandankhathi village under Gournadi upazila of the district, with sharp weapon over land dispute on October 13, 2014 night, leaving him dead on the spot. Elder son of the victim Shahg Alam Sardar filed a case in this connection accusing 10 people. The case was transfered to CID on November 12, 2014 and CID inspector Selim Shahnewaz submitted charge sheet against 10 people on June 16, 2015.
Special security was arranged in the court area yesterday in this regards.
