BAU Fisheries faculty celebrates golden jubilee

The Fisheries faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) celebrated golden jubilee by arranging different types of programme with much enthusiasm and festivity.

To mark the golden jubilee, the faculty organized fisheries rally, seminar on fisheries research, fisheries fair, poster exhibition, and cultural program.

About 1800 alumni of BAU fisheries faculty took part in the three-day celebration programme. Fisheries rally starting from the faculty and parading the main streets of the campus, ended at Dhumketu Club field near faculty building on Saturday.

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman attended as chief guest at the inaugural programme while BAU VC Prof Dr Akbar Ali attended as chief patron.

BAU ex-VC Prof Dr Anwarul Islam attended as an honorable guest while dean of Fisheries faculty Prof Dr Gias Uddin Ahmed presided over the programme.

BAU pro-VC Prof Dr Hasimuddin Khan, Director General of the Department of Fisheries Syed Arif Azad, Director Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and Director General of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute Dr Yahia Mahmud attended as special guests. At the starting of the program, a documentary on research, success and achievement of 50 years of the department was presented.  It is to be mentioned that Fisheries faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was established in 1967 as the flagship institution for fisheries education in this sub-continent.

RU pharmacy dept alumni's reunion held

RAJSHAHI: The pharmacy department of Rajshahi University on Saturday celebrated its first alumni reunion amid enthusiasm and festivity.

Former and current students, teachers and staffs of the department brought out a colourful procession on campus in the morning.

A discussion meeting was held at Shaheed Sukha Ranjan Samadder Teacher-Student Cultural Centre at11am. RU Pro Vice-chancellor Prof Ananda Kumar Saha addressed the progoramme as the chief guest while Bangladesh Pharmacy Council (BPC) Vice-president Prof M Mosaddek Hossain addressed the meeting as alumni reunion speaker.  BPC Vice-president Prof Md Anwar Ul Islam, pharmacy department founding Chairman Prof Md Ekramul Haque and department teacher Prof Md Abdul Gafur, among others, addressed the meeting with department chair ProfessorMd Aktar Uzzaman Chouduri in the chair.
