A number of sports persons and officials will seek permission to visit BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at old Dhaka Central Jail at Nazimuddin Road in the capital today. BNP sports secretary and former national goalkeeper Aminul Haque will lead the sports delegation which will go to the jail gate at 11am, according to a press release issued yesterday.
BNP Assistant Sports Secretary Ariful Haque Prince, national footballer Zahid Hasan Emily, former acting general secretary of BFF Manzoor Hossain Malu, ex-national footballers Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib and Enamul Haque, former hockey player Asaduzzaman Chandan and two former BCB directors Nurul Kabir Sjhaheen and Rafiqul Islam Babu are likely to accompany Aminul.
When contacted, Aminul told The Independent that they will go to the jail gate and seek permission for meeting the BNP chief.
“Even if we don’t get permission to meet her, madam [Khaleda Zia] will get the message that the people in sports arena is with her,” he said. BNP chairperson Khaleda is imprisoned at the jail in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
