India has expressed interest to support Bangladesh in building Bagerhat's Khan Jahan Ali Khan airport and modernizing Saidpur airport in Nilphamari, reports BSS.
This was revealed at a meeting between Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shajahan Kamal at the secretariat in the capital yesterday.
The Indian envoy said there are opportunities for both Bangladesh and India as friendly neighbouring countries to work together for further development in aviation and tourism sector.
Besides, the High Commissioner laid emphasis on renewing the existing Air Service Agreement (ASA) between Bangladesh and India, signed in 1960.
The minister thanked the Indian envoy for the proposal and expressed his satisfaction over the excellent bilateral relation existing between the two countries.
Terming India as the most trusted friend of Bangladesh, the minister recalled the Indian support during the country's Great War of Liberation in 1971.
