An international seminar on 'Influence of World Literature on the Tagorean Characterisa-tion of Women' was held at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium of Islamic Univer-sity (IU) in Kushtia yesterday. IU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari attended at the seminar as the chief guest organised by IU English department. Tagore scholar Dr Bina Biswas, a former head of English department of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, addressed the seminar as the keynote speaker with IU English department teacher Prof Miah M Rashiduzzaman in the chair. Speakers said women's freedom of work increased after the writings on characterisation of women by many poets, authors and critics.
