Constable saves drowning boy

STAFF REPORTER, Ctg

A traffic constable has set an example by saving a boy from drowning. The incident took place in the Nimtala area of the port city on Sunday.
Monir Ahmed, a traffic constable of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police, was on duty in the Nimtala Truck Terminal area of Bandar police station.
He rushed to the spot after hearing a hue cry. Monir saw a boy floundering in a canal beside the truck terminal.  No one from among the onlookers came forward to rescue him.
Unable to remain a silent spectator, Monir, with his uniform on, plunged into the canal. He sustained minor injuries while rescuing the boy and received treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The boy was identified as Sazzad Hossain (8), son of Shahadat Hossain, a resident of the locality. Later, the boy was handed over to his father.
