A case has been filed with judicial magistrate court in Barisal yesterday against 21 leaders and activists of Awami League for attacking two Juba League activists of Gournadi. The injured were identified as Pintu and Masud.
Taposhi Rani Guha, mother Juba League activist Salil Guha Pintu, filed the case. Pintu is also younger brother of upazila Juba League (JL) joint convener and Mahilara Union Parishad chairman Soikat Guha Piklu. In the case the complainant alleged that there was political rivalry between her elder son Piklu with AL leader and municipal chairman Haris. Following the rivalry the accused activists, by order of Haris, attacked and injured her younger son Pintu on August 16 night at a tea stall in front of Gournadi upazila health complex. Severely injured Pintu is now under treatment at Pongu Hospital in Dhaka. JL activist Masud also injured while he tried to save Pintu.
Local people later rescued both and sent to Barisal Sher-e- Bangla Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. The tea stall of Hannan also ransacked and looted by the accused. Tarun Bachhar, magistrate of the court, after hearing the petition on Sunday afternoon, asked officer in charge of Gournadi police station to accept and register it as a case and investigate it as per law. Md. Alauddin Milon, Gournadi police station officer in charge, said he will act as per order of the court after receiving that.
