Lightning kills cop

OUR CORRESPONDENT, Khagrachhari

A police constable was killed and another injured by lightning strike at Nakapa police camp in Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari on Sunday night.
The deceased was Moham-mad Sharif Hossain, 22, of Anandapur area in Sadar upazila and the injured was Md Altab, 23, of Bashkhali area in Chittagong district. Additional Superintendent at the Khagra-chhari police station Anayat Hossain Mannan said the constables were struck by thunderbolt while on duty at the guard post of the police camp at around 11:30pm. They were rushed to Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex, where duty doctor declared Sharif Hossain dead and referred injured Altab to Chitta-gong Combined Military  Hospital. The body of the constable has been sent to his family in Comilla after a namaj-e-janaza.
