Shop, store gutted

A hardware shop and a store were gutted in a devastating fire yesterday at Madina market in Faridpur Sadar upazila.
The shop belongs to Md Khorshed Alam of the area.
When contacted, Md Humayun Kabir, assistant director of Faridpur fire station said the fire originated from an electric short circuit of the shop and in a moment spread to the entire shop on the ground floor and a store on the 1st floor of the same building, burning all electrical appliances inside the building to ashes.
 The fire fighters from Faridpur Boalmari and Magura rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the assistance of local people.
The shop owner said the extent of loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 3 crore.
