The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday ordered the civil surgeon of Dhaka to form a medical board for examining the mental health of war crimes accused Captain (retd) Shahidullah, reports UNB.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Shahinur Islam, asked the civil surgeon to submit a report on his mental health by March 29 next after assessing it.
It came up with the suo moto order after Shahidullah started talking irrelevantly when he was taken to the ICT from a hospital for the charge-framing hearing against him.
Shahidullah was arrested in August 2016 for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971. He secured bail from the tribunal in November 2017.
