Confce on quality assurance in higher edn
GAZIPUR: To ensure quality education in the higher education system, an international conference on ‘Quality Assurance in Higher Education-2018’ was held at the conference room of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) in Gazipur on Saturday.
The conference was organised by Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of DUET. Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Prof Mohammed Nazrul Islam presided over the seminar while vice-chancellor of DUET Prof MahammedAlauddin inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
Dean of engineering faculty of DUET Prof Mohammed Abu Nayeem Sheikh and dean of civil engineering faculty Prof Gonesh Chandra Saha were the special guests while quality assurance specialist of Bangladesh university grant commission Ahmed Tazmim spoke as the key note speaker.
Dr Mohammed Alauddin said there is no alternative of quality education in the changed education system in the global context. For this, we should to pay more attention to the students as well as to remove session jam and establish modern lab.
He also urged to DUET’s teacher to continue the trend of development of the education system.
36 get PhD degree from BAU
Mymensingh: A total 36 students from different institutions received Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh.
The PhD degree holders were honored at a seminar held at the conference room of the Agriculture faulty of the university. PhD students Association (PhDSA) of BAU arranged the programme.
BAU Vice-chancellor Prof Md Ali Akbar attended the programme as a chief guest while Pro-VC Prof Md Jasimuddin Khan and coordinator of Committee for Advanced Studies and Research (CASR) of BAU Prof Lutful Hasan attended as the special
guests.
PhD SA president ABM Shahidul Islam Jewel presided over the programme.
Till date a total 678 students received PhD degree from the university and 343 students are now studying as PhD fellow from different disciplines.
JU Teachers’ Association polls today
The polls to elect 15 executive members of Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA) will be held today.
Current President of JUJA Professor Farid Ahmed and Professor Md Nurul Alam will contest for the president post at the election while current JUTA Secretary Associate Professor Farid Ahmed and Professor Bashir Ahmed will contest for General Secretary Post respectively.
Besides, Professor Rasheda Akhter and Professor Shafi Mohammed Tarique for vice president, Associate Professor Awlad Hossain and Associate Professor Shikder Md Zulkarnine for joint secretary and Professor Kabirul Bashar and Md Nuhu Alam will contest for treasurer post in the upcoming polls. Moreover, a total of 18 teachers will contest for 9 executive member posts.
All candidates are Pro Awami League back teachers while Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and leftist back teachers did not give any candidates for the elections. The election will start from 9 am and will continue till 3:30 pm.
