Environment experts and media representatives, yesterday at a media dialogue at the National Press Club in the capital, emphasised unfolding the green agenda in Bangladesh by pursuing a green growth pathway to ensure sustainable development. To ensure the sustainable development, they asked for applying green lens in every sector of development initiatives that include planning and project implementation by arresting environmental pollution, recovering ecological degradation and halting encroachment to waterbodies, forests and uplands. The participants expressed concerns about the mega projects implementation mindlessly without considering environmental and ecological impacts that would cut back national economic growth.
The media dialogue titled 'Media Dialogues: Economic Dialogue on Green Growth' was organised jointly by UK Aid, Economic Dialogue on Green Growth, Adam Smith International and FEJB.
The FEJB Chairman Quamrul Islam Chowdhury was in the Chair while environment secretary Abdullah Al Mohsin Chowdhury, Suvojit Chattopadhyay of Adam Smith International, environment specialist Dr Rezaul Karim, Dr Saleemul Huq, noted journalists Anisul Haque, Syed Ishtiaque Reza, Sakila Jesmin, Shamima Chowdhury and Kazi Shahnaz of FEJB participated among others.
Environmentalist Dr Rezaul Karim emphasised on pursuing a green growth agenda in Bangladesh to end natural resource depletion.
