Film director Rubaiyat Hossain’s second feature film titled ‘Under Construction’ will be screened today and tomorrow at the Short Film Forum auditorium, Aziz Super Market, Shahbag in the capital. The film will be screened for two times in a row from 6pm. The price of the ticket 100 taka and 50 taka for students. The film is about a woman struggling to find herself in the sprawl of urban Bangladesh. The story of the film ‘Under Construction’ shows that in order to find herself, actress Roya reconstructs a famous and politically minded play for modern times, reclaiming her identity and sexuality in the process.
The film released on January 22 in Dhaka. To note, earlier the film was screened at the Montreal International Film Festival (MIFF) in Canada, and ‘Festival De Cine Bogata’ in Colombia this year. The film also saw its world premiere at the Seattle Film Festival in America. The film won the Golden Durian Prize for best feature at the Salamindanaw International Film Festival.
