Former India all-rounder Yousuf Pathan reached Dhaka yesterday to play the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for Prime Bank Cricket Club. He will join the side in today’s match against Mohammedan Sporting Club.
Pathan was not however a newcomer in Dhaka league as he played for Abahani Limited in the last season. The all-rounder who was the part of India’s 2011 World Cup winning squad has long not been considered in the national set up but has been playing IPL and other Indian domestic tournaments.
He has been recruited by Sunrisers Hyderabad in this season’s IPL, a team in which Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan will also play. Pathan has 4258 runs under his belt at an average of 33.79 in 177 List A matches. He also claimed 114 wickets with his off-spin.
Pathan will replace Delhi batsman Kunal Chandila who played the first four matches for Prime Bank.
Meanwhile Khulna Zilla School became the champions of the Khulna Zone in the Prime Bank National School Cricket Championship, beating Gazi Memorial School by three wickets.
Khulna pacer Sifat starred in the match, claiming seven for just 19 runs. Sifat ran though the batting line up Gazi Memorial School to skittle them out for just 67 runs in 14.4 overs. Khulna Zilla School however overhauled the with quite ease.
