A human chain was formed demanding allocation of khash land for setting up a maternity center at Nilerpara area of the city. Hundreds of people of the area gathered with procession in front of Gazipur deputy commissioner’s office and later formed the human chain from 11am to 12.30 pm at Rajbari road of the city yesterday. Ward councillor of Gazipur City Corporation Jannatur Rahman Jannat presided over the human chain while secretary of Gazipur city Awami League Mohammed Jahangir Alam, freedom fighter Gafur Mollah, Shakhawat Hossain Khokon, councillor Anjuman Ara, president of Mohila Awami League Hosne Ara spoke among others in the human chain.
Later, they submitted a memorendum to the deputy commissioner of Gazipur SM Alam requesting to take steps for allocation lands to establish a maternity centre. The speakers said in the human chain that local parliament member Zahid Ahsan Rasel laid the foundation stone of the maternity centre to ensure the health service for the people of the area. They also said that thousands of people of Nilerpara, Bangal Gach, Kanaiya and adjacent areas of Gazipur City Corporation will be able to take health facilities if the centre will be established here. On the other hand, the prime minister’s promise of providing health service to grassroots level will be accelerated after establish the maternity centre. They requested to the authorities concerned to take initiative for allocation government khash lands for the centre that are available in the areas.
