Commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Shoibal Kanti Chowdhury and Deputy Commissioner Md Shoib Ahmed have been removed from their posts. A circular was issued by the home ministry over their removal yesterday night. Shoibal Kanti Chowdhury has been posted with the police TR at the headquarters and Lutfor Rahman Mondol of police headquarters has been made the new BMP commissioner. Habibur Rahman of police headquarters has been posted as DC (headquarters) of BMP.
Sources with the home ministry said the Barisal police commissioner and DC were transferred over their involvement in creating a slush fund for promotions in the police force.
