SYLHET: Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury on Saturday said those who have kept BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in an abandoned jail after jailing her in a ‘false’ case will be tried one day, says a press release.
He made the remark while inaugurating a mass signature collection programme at the Court Point in the morning demanding immediate release of the party chief.
“The government is violating human rights by keeping Khaleda in an abandoned prison,” said the BNP central committee member.
The present government has become politically bankrupt, Ariful said, adding that BNP together with the country's people will oust it.
Among others, party's central co-organising secretary and former MP Dilder Hossain Selim, senior vice-presidents of district BNP Abdul Kahir Chowdhury, Advocate Abdul Gaffar and Abdul Mannan, and senior joint general secretary of city BNP Ajmal Bakht Chowdhury Sadek, were present.
