The Department of Narcotic Control (DNC) is set to undergo massive changes as it seeks a new organogram, firearms, uniforms with rank badges, new laws and new service rules to turn into a modern and efficient force, reports BSS.
“In the proposed organogram, we have demanded increasing the manpower up to 8,505 from the existing 1706, as we have long been suffering from lack of adequate staff,” DNC Director General (DG) Mohammed Jamal Uddin Ahmed said yesterday.
“We have also proposed more manpower for the intelligence wing as part of the plan of strengthening it so that it can play a vital role in curbing drug trade and abuse by gathering advance information,” he added.
“We have also proposed for firearms for the DNC members as it is very much difficult to conduct drives against drug traders having firearms by the unarmed DNC personnel,” he said.
