Four notable films by four eminent filmmakers-- Satyajit Ray, Alamgir Kabir, Akram Khan and Sohanur Rahman Sohan --will be screened today at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University in the capital. The films are being screened in the ongoing17th edition of the ‘Amar Bhasar Chalachitra’ film festival organised by Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS). Film maestro Satyajit Ray’s drama film ‘Mahanagar’(1963) will be screened today at 10am, prominent director Alamgir Kabir’s fantasy film ‘Shurjokonna’(1977) will be screened at 12:45pm while Akram Khan’s drama film ‘Khacha’ (2017) will screen at 3:30pm and Sohanur Rahman Sohan’s romantic film ‘Keyamot Theke Keyamot’(1993) at 6:30pm.
DUFS has been organising the annual film festival with the slogan ‘Sustha Chalachitra, Sustha Darshak’ since its foundation in 2000 with the aim to promote Bangla films and to help change the taste of audiences and bring out more talented filmmakers.
