RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a function here on Saturday said skill development trainings can make the young generation worthy citizens by creating a huge employment opportunities in the society, reports BSS. They said skilled youths are capable to turn their communities into a development one as they can use their acquired knowledge through the trainings in various development activities.
The view came at the closing session of a two-day refreshers training, organised by The Hunger Project, Bangladesh, at Mohanpur Upazila Parishad Hall room in the district.
Importance should be given on generating community leadership among the youths to bring a qualitative change everywhere in the society. There is no alternative to training for enhancing professional skills among the youths, the speakers said.
British Council funded project “Promoting Democratic Inclusion and Governance through Youths (PRODIGY)” supported the training. A total of 31 youths including 15 female joined it.
Joining the function, Upazila Chairman Professor Abdus Samad put emphasis on adorning the youths with modern knowledge for making them worthy citizens.
Time has come to generate more young leadership in the society.
Increasing young leadership along with building their capacity is the precondition to generate job opportunities, social development and free the society from gender discrimination and vicious cycle of poverty, he added. “Knowledge acquired from the training should be applied for proper functioning of the LGIs,” he
added.
College teachers Asad Ali and Mofizur Rahman and school teacher Alim Sheikh also spoke. Field Coordinator (Monitoring and Operations) of PRODIGY Subrata Kumar Paul and Programme Officers Masum Russel, Joynal Abedeen and Jewel Rana narrated the training aspects.
