33.35pc ADP implementation in seven months

The implementation rate as well as expenditure of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) during the July-January period of the current fiscal year has witnessed an uptrend as it reached 33.35 per cent with an overall expenditure of Tk 54,718 crore, reports BSS.
The ADP implementation rate during the July-January period of the last fiscal year (FY17) was 32.41 per cent with an overall expenditure of Tk 39,973 crore, according to the latest statistics provided by the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning.
The IMED data showed that out of the overall expenditure of Tk 54,718 crore for this July-January period, Tk 28,677 crore were spent from the GoB fund with an implementation rate of 30.02 per cent.
Besides, Tk 23,336 crore were spent from project assistance with an implementation rate of 38.63 percent while the rest Tk 2,706 crore were spent from the organizations own fund with an implementation rate of 33.19 per cent.
Talking to BSS, IMED Secretary Md Mofizul Islam said the IMED remained very active towards monitoring the development projects from the very beginning of the current year.
Weve taken some special measures in this year so that we can utilize cent percent fund allocated against the development projects, he added.
He said the progress in ADP implementation during the first seven months of the current fiscal is encouraging, adding, Well try to ensure cent percent implementation in the current fiscal,
The IMED Secretary said they would sit soon with the project directors of some 71 projects having estimated cost in between Tk 200 crore and Tk 350 crore to ensure speedy implementation of those projects within the stipulated timeframe maintaining due quality.
Mofizul said they are also continuing communication with the executing agencies at field level through holding video conferences to address the problems and barriers for smoothly implementing the projects.
The IMED figures showed that out of the overall expenditure of Tk 39,973 crore during the July-January period of the last fiscal year, Tk 25,899 crore were spent from the GoB portion (36.63 percent) followed by expenditure of Tk 10,609 crore (26.52 percent) from project assistance while the rest of the expenditure, Tk 3,465 crore (27.40 percent), from the organisations own fund.
Among the top 15 ministries and divisions as far as the allocation is concerned, the Power Division made an expenditure of Tk 15,366.98 crore (68.35 per cent) during this July-January period followed by the Local Government Division Tk 8,583.40 crore (40.48 per cent) Road Transport and Highways Division with Tk 5,718.27 crore (34.59 per cent), Ministry of Railways with Tk 1,437.73 crore (11.61 percent), Bridges Division with Tk2,156.84 crore (27.11 per cent), Ministry of Primary and Mass Education with Tk 2,060.93 crore (30.30 per cent), Ministry of Housing and Public Works with Tk 1,675.21 crore (26.11 per cent), Secondary and Higher Education Division with Tk 1,350.69 crore (23.75 per cent), Health Services Division with Tk 1,658.87 crore (22.52 per cent) and Ministry of Science and Technology with Tk4,219.10 crore (40.17 per cent).
During the July-January period, the Power Division achieved the highest implementation rate of 68.35 per cent while the Financial Institution Division the lowest 1.73 per cent.
