2 drug peddlers held
Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 525 yaba tablets from a bus in Natun Bridge area of the city early yesterday. The arrested was identified Md Rasel Mia, 35, and Md Atikur Rahman, 38, hailed from Tangail district. Police sources said that Rasel is a vegetables seller in Gazipur area and Anwar is a worker of a salt factory of the area. When contacted. Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge (OC) Bakalia police station said, “Acting on a tip off, a team of police in a search on a bus of Hanif Paribahan and arrested the duo with 525 pieces of contraband yaba pills.”  
“The pills were hidden in a charger fan strategically,” said the OC.
154 arrested
District police in separate drives arrested 154 people from different upazilas of the districts on Friday night. During the drive police recovered 53 litres of liquor and 434 pieces of contraband yaba tablets.
Naimul Hasan, additional superintend of police (Special Branch) of Chittagong, said they were detained 154 people in an overnight drive in various places under different upazilas on Friday night and recovered 434 pieces of contraband yaba pills and 74 liter of liquor from Chandanish upazila.
1 killed as bus rams bike
A man was killed and three injured after a bus rammed a motorbike at Shah Amanat Bridhe area in Chittagong yesterday.
The victim was identified as Mohammad Selim, 50, son of Mohammad Yousuf, hailed from Patiya of Chittagong. The injured are: Ahmed Syed, 50, Md Sagar, 28, and Zafar 35.  The accident took place at around 11:45am.
When contacted, Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakalia police station said, “A speedy bus while entering the city from Shah Amanat Bridge lost its control and hit a motorbike.  Four people, including bike-rider, were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in a critical condition.” “The on-duty doctor of CMCH declared Selim dead after he was brought to the hospital,” said Hamid Ullah, Nayek of CMCH police outpost.
Police detained the bus, however, drive and helper of the bus were managed to flee.
Two robbers arrested
Members of Chittagong coast guard arrested two alleged robbers along with a foreign-made pistol and ammunition from Azimpur Primary School area under Sandwip police station yesterday morning.
The arrested dacoits were identified as Shamsuddin, 37 and Suman, 33, both hailed from Sandwip upazila of the district.   
Lieutenant Nurul Huda, officer of coast guard east zone said on secret information, a team of coast guard personel arrested the dacoits with a foreign made pistol and five rounds of bullet at 8.30 am yesterday.  A case filed with filed Sandwip thana in this connection.
