Man kills wife, sister-in-law in Kishoreganj

A man allegedly killed his wife and sister-in-law over family feud in Nikli upazila of Kishoreganj district on Friday. The deceased were Aysha Akter, 25, wife of Sowkat Mia and Salma Akter, 30, wife of Mustafa Mia of Gurui village in Nikli. According to police and local sources, Sowkat Mia, 32, husband of Aysha Akter is a an expatriate in Dubai who came home recently. On the day of the incident Sowkat and Aysha locked in an altercation at 11am and at one stage Sowkat hacked his wife to death. Having locked the door he then went to his brother-in-law Mustafa’s house and killed his wife Salma.

Later, locals confined Sowkat while he tried to escape from the spot and handed him over to police after giving mass beating. Confirming the incident Md Kamal Uddin, additional police super (Bajitpur circle) said killer Sowkat was arrested and two bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Sadar General Hospital morgue for autopsy. No case was filed yet in this connection, he added.
