Madrasa student found dead
A madrasa student found dead at Jamila Darul Ulum Madrasa in capital’s Motijheel area early yesterday, police and hospital sources said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motijheel police station Forman Ali confirmed the news saying, “Police recovered the body of Abdur Rahman, 18, from the madrasa mosque at about 6:30 am.”
He, quoting madrasa authority, said Rahman was son of Nurul Haque from Talgachhi village in Tangail district and a student of class eight.
Police said Rahman came to the mosque for saying Fazr prayer and subsequently went to sleep.
But getting no response from him despite repeated calling, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead in the morning.
The body was sent for autopsy, duty officer Sub-Inspector Amanur Rashid told BSS. An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with the Motijjheel police station.
Minor boy electrocuted
A minor boy was electrocuted in Sholok village under Ujirpur upazila in Barisal yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as Hasan Sarder, 3, son of Jabbar Sarder of the same village.
Police and local sources said Hasan injured critically as he came in contact with a live electric while he was playing near his house.
Hasan was sent to local hospital where doctor declared him dead.
One held with arms  
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-9 in a drive arrested a man along with a two revolvers and three bullets near the Kochupur area of Osmaninogor upazila in Sylhet yesterday morning.
The arrestee was identified as Jalal miah, 20, a resident of Shayesthaganj upazila.
On secret information, RAB conducted a drive in the area around 8am and arrested the man along with revolvers and bullets, said RAB-9 in a press release.
Man killed over land dispute
An elderly man was killed and 10 others injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Khasjan village in Bishwanath upazila in Sylhet Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Rafiq Miah, 60, son of late Abdul Mutlib, resident of the village.
Local said, there had been a long-standing enmity between Rafiq Miah and Royis Ali over the ownership of a piece of land in the village.
On the incident day both the engaged with an altercation in the evening and attacked each with other by the sharp weapon, leaving one person dead and 10 others injured.
He was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
One held with 3.5kg gold
Armed Police Battalion (APBN) in a raid arrested a man along with 3.50-kg of gold worth about Taka 1.50 crore from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Friday afternoon.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (APBN) Tanjila Akter confirmed the news.
“We arrested one Rafiqul Islam, 44, and seized 30 gold bars from belt,” said the APBN officer.
He arrived at Dhaka from Saudi Arabia with a flight of Saudi Arabian Airlines at about 3pm.
