Former Prime Minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed was laid to rest beside the graves of his parents at Cheora village in Chauddagram upazial of Comilla district after Asr prayers yesterday. He was 76.
Before his burial, he was offered ‘honour’ on behalf of upazila administration and Upazila Muktijodha Command.
Earlier, the mortal remains of Kazi Zafar were carried to his village home in Comilla in the morning from Dhaka.
Leaders of different political and social organisations placed wreaths at his coffin to show their respect to the leader.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended his Namaj-e-Jazana held at four different places–Comilla Central Eidgaon field, Suagaji field at Comilla Sadar, Eidgaon field of Chouddagram upazila and Cheora school field.
Local MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar, former MP Monirul Haque, Jatiya Party (Z) secretary general Mostafa Jamal Haydar and other local leaders attended the Janazas.
