A Dhaka court yesterday placed each of the five people, arrested in connection with a case filed against them for their alleged involvement with an international human organ trafficking syndicate, on a three-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haq passed the order after Detective Branch Inspector Alamgir Hossain Patwari produced the five before his court with a 10-day remand plea for each.
Detectives arrested the five-- Abdul Jalil, Sheikh Jakir Ibn Aziz alias Shakir, Ashiqur Rahman alias Jebin, Fazle Rabbi, and Jihan Rahman-- from different areas of the capital on Friday night, Deputy Commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muntasirul Islam said.
He also said that the DB men rescued two victims held hostages by the arrestees.
Police said Abdul Jalil, broker of a kidney selling and purchasing gang, was arrested from Gabtoli while he was returning to Dhaka from Joypurhat with one Abu Hasan in a bid to sell his kidney.
Abu Hasan alleged that Jalil lured him into agreeing to sell his Kidney for money. “Jalil also promised to give me a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in exchange for one of my kidneys”, he added.
