Two Myanmar nationals were arrested for their suspected link to Myanmar insurgent group ‘Arakan Army’ from Kainda union in Rajasthali upazila in Rangamati early yesterday, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Tosoi Aung Marma, 42, and Mong Chong Wang Marma, 39.
Tipped off, a team of army and police personnel conducted a joint drive in the area and arrested them on suspicion of their involvement with the insurgent group of ‘Arakan Army’ around 5am, said Wahidullah Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Rajasthali Police Station.
However, a case was filed under Anti-Terrorism Act with Rajasthali Police Station on Saturday, said the OC.
On August 27, a Myanmar citizen was arrested at Rajasthali, adjacent to Rangamati-Bandarban border, for his suspected link to Myanmar insurgent group ‘Arakan Army’ following a gunfight between BGB and the insurgent group members in Bandarban district.
