Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) yesterday conducted a mobile court fining 18 institutions for Tk 10,000 each in Gulshan-2 area for not using Bangla-inscribed signboards, billboards or banners, reports BSS.
The mobile court led by DNCC Executive Magistrate Md Sajjad Anwar was carried out from 11am to 2.30pm in the capital’s Gulshan area to ensure Bangla inscription in signboards, said a press release of DNCC.
The institutions are Islam Pharma, Bata, Oppo Landview, Photo Studio, Flora Limited, Image Lighting, Sony Rangs, Bahera, Landmark, Data Photocopy, Cambrian School and College, Aslam Lightings, Eye Care, US Bangla Airlines, Bread and Beyond, Top Ten and Samsung.
Most of the signboards of these institutions were immediately removed while a few others were given two days time to replace faulty signboards by Bangla-inscribed signboards.
According to the High Court order given on the 1696/2014 number writ petition, it is mandatory to inscribe nameplates, signboards, billboards and banners in Bangla (except embassies, foreign agencies and related other sectors).
Local Government Division gave the charge of executing the HC order in DNCC area to DNCC authority.
