3 killed in Rajshahi road crash
RAJSHAHI: Three people, including two SSC examinees, were killed in a road accident at Tarapur in the district yesterday morning. Among the deceased, two were identified as Rakibul Islam, 16, and Mustafizur Rahman, 17, SSC examinees from Puthia PN High School.
The accident took place when a Natore-bound truck hit the motorbike, carrying the SSC examinees, in the area around 9:30am, leaving three of them dead on the spot, said Sayedur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Putia Police Station. On information, police and fire service rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
BSTI seals off 3 jar-water factories
Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) sealed off three illegal jar-water producing factories apart from slapping Tk 4 lakh fine on them in the capital’s Mirpur area on Sunday.
A joint team of BSTI and Rapid Action Battalion team, led by executive magistrate Sarowar Alam, sealed off the plants as they were running their businesses without BSTI's approval, said a press release. The team also sentenced eight people to three months' imprisonment and fined the six establishments - Shikdar Drinking Water of Shah Ali, RR Enterprise, NM Enterprise of Natinal Zoo Road, Rupali Fresh Drinking Water of Utar Bithil, NN Enterprise of Dakkhin Bithil and Kohinoor Food and Beverage in Mirpur-2.
Swing machines distributed among beggars
KHULNA: Swing machines, mobile grocery shops and cash were distributed among beggars on the premises of circuit house on Sunday.
Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Affairs in the Prime Minister's Office Md Abul Kalam Azad was present at the function as the chief guest.
Organised by Rehabilatation Association for beggar free society and employment for beggar, Khulna divisional commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia, Khulna deputy commissioner Amin-ul-Ahsan, Khulna city unit Muktijuddha commandar Professor Alamgir were present on the function, among others.
