The government has planned to set up medical college in every district and medical university in all divisions to raise necessary experienced physicians. “The present government is committed to provide healthcare services to all. That’s why we have a plan to establish medical college in every district,” Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said in parliament yesterday, reports BSS.
Replying to a written question from treasury bench member Didarul Alam of Chittagong-4 in the parliament, he said the government would also set up medical university in every division.
The minister said currently 3,187 students get admission in 31 public medical colleges every year, while 7,560 seats are available in 75 private medical colleges including six medical colleges under Bangladesh Army. The total seats are comparatively low, Nasim informed the House.
