Stocks fall for rumor, say brokerages

Top brokerages of the country yesterday observed that rumor is the main reason of the recent falling trend in the stock markets, reports BSS.

The observation came from a meeting of the 30 top brokerages of the country.

Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) and DSE Brokers Association (DBA) organised the instant meeting for finding out the key reason of the recent downward trend in the stock markets.

After the meeting, DBA President Mostak Ahmed told journalists that there were many rumors about many political events in the past, but this time the event has created a little more panic, which was the key reason for falling trend the stock market.

BMBA President Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury urged the authorities concerned to solve the investment problems of the investors in the stock markets. “We want a stable market for a long time. Temporary support is not a long solution for the market” he added.
