Director General of Narcotic Control Department (DNC) Md Jamal Uddin yesterday said that NDC is not properly equipped and organised to control widespread narcotics across the country, reports UNB. The DG came up with the remarks while replying to a question at a press conference at the NDC headquarters in Tejgaon in the capital. 'We specially lack human resources, field level employees, to run operations as we have only 1,191 employees, including 236 outsourcing personnel where we sent requirement of 8,505 employees' to the concerned ministry, said the DG.
NDC called the press conference on the day after they detained 36 people for bearing drugs and firearms and busted Yaba manufacturing house in Narayanganj.
"If anyone is known to all as the godfather of drugs but we cannot arrest him without evidence. We are trying to reform this law," he said. Earlier, a team of DNC official found a Yaba manufacturing factory in Haripur area under Bandar Police Station of the city. The DNC team, recovered Yaba tablets, and Yaba manufacturing Chemicals and equipment's, three dices machine and held a woman from the factory. Earlier on Thursday, the team in several drives arrested at least 36 drugs peddlers from different places of the capital Dhaka.
