Weeklong art exhibition begins at DU

The seven-day annual art exhibition of the Craft Department at Dhaka University (DU) began on Thursday at Zainul Gallery of the Fine Art faculty.  DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest with Fine Art faculty dean Prof Nisar Hossain in the chair.

Assistant Prof Md Abdul Momen, convener of the exhibition and chairman of the Craft department, Prof Abdus Sakur Shah and Engineer Moinul Abedin were also present on the occasion.  A total of 89 artworks of 44 students of the department have been put on display at the exhibition. The exhibition will remain open from 10 am to 8 pm every day till February 7.

IU waiting list viva voce tomorrow

Kushtia: The authorities of 'F' unit under applied science and technology faculty of Islamic University (IU) announced admission schedule, said a press release. According to the vacancy seats, the viva from waiting list of 'F' unit under the session of 2017-18 of 1st year honors course will be held on February 4 at the unit coordinator office around 10am, the release added.

The selected aspirants will have to complete the all admission process within February 5, release further added.

CoU admission tests Feb 23, 24

COMILLA: The first year honors admission test of Comilla University (CoU) under the 2017-2018 academic session will be held on February 23-24, 2018.

The admission tests for A and B unit are scheduled to be held on February 23, Friday and C unit on February 24, Saturday.

All necessary information, including seat plans could be known from the university website www.cou.ac.bd. A central committee meeting chaired by the university vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Emran Kabir took the decision on Wednesday afternoon.

JU first year classes begin Monday

SAVAR: The classes for the 1st year Bachelor (Honours) courses under the academic session 2017-18 of Jahangirnagar Univesity (JU) will begin on Monday.

Deputy Registrar (Education-1) Abu Hasan told The Independent yesterday.  Due to  existing accommodation crisis at the dorms, the university authority will not be able to allot seats among the newly admitted 1st year honours students right now. When the seat will be vacant, associated hall provosts will take initiative to accommodate them in vacant seats, he said. Moreover, the university authorities will launc Dhaka to JU special bus services for the first year students so that they could attend regular classes without staying at dorms, he added.

Meanwhile, the university authority has taken initiative to drive out the invalid students from dormitories. Already, a notice signed by JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique has been issued for the invalid students to leave dormitories. Meantionable, a total of 1986 students have been enrolled in different departments and institutes in this year.

IU winter vacation begins Feb 6

Kushtia: The winter vacation of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will be begun on February 6, said an IU press release.

All the academic and administrative activities of the university will  remain closed during the vacation from February 6 to 14, a press release added. IU acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif said, the academic and administrative activities of the university will resume on February 17 after ending the vacation.

Mentionable, IU authority rescheduled the winter vacation to the February 6 to 14 instead of December 23 to January 3 due to the 4th convocation of the university.
