‘Ensure cluster-wise easy varsity admission test’

President M Abdul Hamid yesterday asked the university authorities to ensure cluster-wise and easy admission system to mitigate the suffering of admission-seekers, reports BSS. The president came up with the call as a 45-member vice-chancellors’s delegation of the public universities paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban yesterday evening. “Ensure cluster-wise easy admission test system at universities to reduce the sufferings to the admission-seekers especially female ones and their guardians as well”, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin quoted the president.

Noting that during the admission tests in different universities, the students especially the females suffer a lot, the president urged the VCs and other concerned to find out a coordinated solution in this regard.

President Hamid directed the authorities concerned of all universities to implement a time-befitting curriculum and syllabus to ensure world-standard quality education at the varsities.

Terming the teachers’ community the prime architect for building the students as world-worthy citizens, the President underscored the need for ensuring quality research alongside the traditional education system.

Abdul Hamid also put emphasis on ensuring transparency and accountability in appointing teachers, officers and employees in universities with the proper evaluation of their fitness and merits.

The president also asked the VCs and other concerned to consider the demands of time while opening any new department in the universities.

Emphasizing on the teacher-student relations, Abdul Hamid called upon the VCs to reduce the gap between the teachers and students and maintain the spirit of morality at all aspects. The president was apprised by the vice-chancellors of overall activities of their universities, including recent infrastructural development, academic activities, different problems and future plan.
