Vice-chancellor of Islamic University (IU) Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari came under attack by some unidentified miscreants on his way to Kushtia from Jhenidah early yesterday, reports UNB. Some miscreants stopped the car carrying the Vice-Chancellor by felling trees near Baroda area on Jhenidah-Kushtia Highway in Jhenidah while he was returning to the campus, Raton Shiekh, officer-in-charge of IU Police Station, told UNB
The miscreants broke the glass of the VC's car with sharp weapons but the VC and his driver managed to escape, he said.
Later, a team of police from IU Police Station rushed to the spot. Claiming the incident as a pre-planned one, Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s help for boosting his security.
