The Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh, Major General Aziz Ahmed, has said that intruding Myanmar separatists have been driven out from Bangladesh. A quick-response joint operation was carried out by the Army, Air Force and the BGB, in which at least 10 intruders were either killed or injured.
After visiting the spot in Boromodak of Thanchi upazila in Bandarbans district, the BGB DG said the operation was continuing to flush out intruders who may still be hiding in the forest and hilly areas. He was addressing a press conference at the BGB headquarters “Our forces seized a huge quantity of bullets, ammunition and combat dresses from the den of the Myanmar separatists,” he said.
Major General Aziz further said they will send more personnel of the joint forces today to carry out the search operation.
The BGB chief said they have been communicating with the Myanmar Army to help flush out members of that country’s separatists groups from Bangladesh territory.
“After Wednesday's incident at Boromodak, we urged the Myanmar Army to seal their border and they did so,” he said.

The Sector Commander of the Bandarban BGB, Col Waliur Rahman, said home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division, Lieutenant General Mainul Islam, Director General (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh, Major General Aziz Ahmed, and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 24 Division, Major General Md Shafiqur Rahman, visited the spot at Boromodak yesterday.
During the visit, the home minister asked the BGB officers to take steps so that Myanmar’s separatists cannot enter Bangladesh.
He assured them that all support would be provided to the BGB and the armed forces to stop entry of separatist groups, especially the Arakan Liberation Army (ALA) and the Arakan Army.
During the visit, local BGB officers informed the home minister that there is about 150 km of porous border with  Myanmar, and this is why separatists are able to enter the country.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal visited the spot a day after Wednesday’s attack on a BGB camp in Baromodak by Myanmar’s insurgents, in which a BGB nayek was injured.
After the incident, joint forces began a combing operation to drive away Myanmarese insurgents from the border points of Bandarban district.
During the operation, a member of the Arakan Army, Aung Yung Rakhaine (20), was detained and two horses, three sets of uniform of the organisation, three laptops, two digital cameras, one handycam and a motorcycle were seized from his possession. Military sources said the seized items are being checked.
