Sri Lanka left-handed opener Danushka Gunathilaka said that they did not surprise at the runaway victory against the host Bangladesh, the victory which was much-needed for them to head to the three-team final.
“We were not surprised,’’ said Danuskha Gunathilaka, who made a-run-a-ball 35 not out in his first match in tri-nation series.
“Because we know that if we play to our strength we can beat any team in the world,’’ Gunathilaka told reporters at his post-match briefing.
“We got back to good performance and I think we need to continue the good things,’’ he added.
The 26-year-old all-rounder said that the last two wins especially the win against Bangladesh will be a big boost in their confidence ahead of the final.
“Last year we did not do well in white-ball cricket. The last two wins are very helpful for us, especially our confidence will get higher now. So we are looking forward to the final,’’ the south-paw said.
Gunathilaka, who took the credit to run out Shakib along with picked up a catch beside his batting display, said that he attempts to give his hundred percent while he get down playing for the Islanders.
“I think, Shakib’s run out was the turning point of the match,’’ he said, adding: ‘When I play for the country I always give my 100 per cent. Everyone gave their 100 per cent today because it was a much needed win today, so I think we did well.’’
When asked about wicket, the opener said,
“It didn’t change much, but it was a very slow wicket... it was hard to bat. We just did our basics, me and Upul.’’

“It was a great experience, I really enjoyed the last BPL, it was a great experience,’’ he said.
