Presidents of Indonesia and Switzerland are scheduled to visit Dhaka in the last week of this month and the first week of February respectively to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues including Rohingyas' one, reports UNB. Swiss President Alain Berset will be visiting Bangladesh from February 4-7 while Indonesian President Joko Widodo from January 27-28, an official at the Foreign Ministry told the news agency. Swiss President has shown interest to visit Rohingya camps and interact with Rohingyas while the Indonesian President has no plan yet to visit the camps.
Meanwhile, Swiss Ambassador in Dhaka Rene Holenstein met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday at her office and updated the Prime Minister about Swiss President's Dhaka visit, another official told the news agency. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Indonesia in 2015 and 2017 and invited Indonesian President to visit Bangladesh.
In September last, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi visited Dhaka and discussed the Rohingya issues. The Indonesian and the Swiss Presidents, during their visits, will have meetings with President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina apart from other engagements.
